"You know what to do," Anna's mother was smoothing out the dark dress that accented her every curve.
"No." Anna looked herself in the mirror. "I don't." She looked at her mother's reflection then.
"I'll take his father. You get Tyler. You make damn sure that he wants you." She ordered.
"Mom?" Anna winced. "I'm not a whore, and neither or you." She was acting as if these were desperate times. They were not that desperate.
"I need the town on my side, honey." Her mother loosened her dark curls around her face.
"Mom, quit with the honey crap, OK." She was fine without her.Why in the world did she want her back? It was beginning to drive her crazy. Would she always be under her mother's thumb?
"Baby, you know how much you mean to me. I want us to be happy." Her mother told her.
Anna shook her head. She wanted nothing to do with Tyler, but her Mom had the date set up.
"You do it, for us. We need him. We do." Her mother stared into Anna's eyes.
Anna shook her head as if she were her mother's robot, but honestly she wasn't. She never would be.
